Explore the Old Town

Cozy cafes, boutique galleries and historical buildings make the maze of Geneva's Old Town the city's top attraction. Taking plenty of stops for coffee (and milk chocolate), you can easily lose a day getting wonderfully lost down picturesque alleyways, admiring St. Peter's Cathedral and watching life go by in the central Place du Bourg-de-Four. Here many traditional Swiss meals can be enjoyed, in cafes such as the medieval inspired Café de Bourg-de-Four.
Hike on Geneva’s local mountain

The mountains of Switzerland have been calling travellers since The Sound of Music, with endless green fields sloping towards quaint country towns, dotted with traditional homes and churches. Geneva's nearby Mont Salève stands 900-metres above the ground, offering all the hallmarks of a Swiss mountain experience, and views to Mont Blanc on a sunny day. Those not fussed on hiking can ascend to the observatory in a cable car, which journeys on a frightful angle from Le Pas de l'Echelle.
See Geneva’s Italian side in Carouge

Geneva’s unique district of Carouge is referred to by locals as 'small Italy,' but the reality is something far more multicultural. Modelled of the French Riviera town of Nice with a population that's 10% Portuguese, Italian architecture and Sardinian heritage is just part of this town's wonder and appeal. Lively restaurants, tapas bars, antique shops, and art studios can all be found here, owing to its nickname of the 'Greenwich Village of Geneva'.
Rummage in the Plainpalais flea market

Books, retro clothes, artworks and vintage bits and bobs make the Plainpalais flea market an essential rummage when in Geneva. A favourite of locals held on Saturdays and Wednesdays from 8am-5pm, it can be teamed with a meal in one of the many restaurants in the area of Plainpalais. Those visiting on Sundays, Tuesdays and Fridays can soak up the various aromas of the farmers’ markets, which have many international food stores crammed in for good measure.
Take an iconic selfie at the Promenade du Lac

A 140-metre fountain and distant rolling mountains make Promenade du Lac worthy of a few happy snaps. The lake walk will take you past the ferry terminal and Buste de François Diday monument, as well as the iconic outdoor flower clock of L'horloge fleurie, finishing up at the jetty by Pont du Mont-Blanc bridge - or the Chanel store for those feeling spendthrift.
Stroll through the Bastions park

Giant games of chess, fairytale bridges and magnolias in full bloom make a stroll the the Bastions park the perfect way to romance yourself with the city of Geneva. No matter the weather this area is put to use, but the spring and summer months are when it really reaches its peak. Hire a bike and cycle past the monument of the Confederation Wall - unless you've visited in winter in which case a visit to the ice-rank will be more in order.
