clear searchA modular trip means fellow travellers will join and leave at various locations. There’ll be some goodbyes, sure, but there’ll also be plenty of hellos with new like-minded travellers.
At the start of the trip, there's a transfer from Worgl Train Station to Haus Schoneck, departing at 4pm. If you're flying in, we recommend flying into Munich, Innsbruck or Salzburg and then taking a train to Worgl.
From Munich Airport (Munchen Flughafen):
Make your way to the Zentrum Bereich (Central Area) where you can buy a ticket at the train counter for Worgl. Take the S-Bahn (subway S8) to München Ost - approx. 15 minutes' journey time. At München Ost, change platforms & take the fast train direct to Wörgl (about 1 hour). Train schedules can be found on the Bahn website.
From Innsbruck Airport (Flughafen):
Take the shuttle bus to the main train station (Bahnhof). You can buy tickets from the ticket machine at the bus stop and then validate it once you're on the bus. From Innsbruck train station, take a train to Wörgl. You can book tickets online, through the app, or from the red ticket machines at the station. Train schedules can be found on the ÖBB website.
From Salzburg Airport (Flughafen):
Take the shuttle bus to the main train station (Bahnhof). From Salzburg train station, take the train to Wörgl. You can book tickets online, through the app, or from the red ticket machines at the station. Train schedules can be found on the ÖBB website.
The trip ends in Lauterbrunnen at the accommodation - Schutzenbach Hostel. From there, you can walk to Lauterbrunnen train station (15 mins), take the 141 bus (10 mins) or take a taxi which can be organised through the hostel (5 mins).
From the train station, you can take a train to Interlaken Ost (25 minutes), then take connecting trains to most other major cities. (You'll have done part of this journey on day 4 of the trip so it might feel familiar!).
The biggest international airport to fly out of is Zurich. You can take a direct train from Interlaken Ost to Zurich Airport (Flughafen Zurich), which takes about 2 hours and 15 minutes - eyes peeled for beautiful views of the mountains and lakes on the way. Train schedules can be found on the SBB website.
Trains and public transport services across Austria and Switzerland are reasonably priced and very efficient. Most rail staff speak some English and you can also switch the ticket machines to English. The trains are clean and comfortable, with awesome views of the mountains and countryside. Your Trip Manager can also offer more advice in the days leading up to the trip.
Your Trip Manager will advise you on who you’ll share your room with. On this trip, you’ll stay in a multi-share room with other travellers of the same sex.
Our trips are short & sweet (and loaded with fun activities). That’s why we don’t offer pre or post trip accommodation.
You’ll need a moderate level of fitness for this trip since you’ll be hiking, biking and rafting.
The sunset hike on day 1 is about 5km and has 250m of elevation.
The bike ride on Day 2 is about 25 kms long, through valleys and some steep ascents. But you can always take it at your own pace. Paragliding has a 115kg (255 lbs) weight limit, but it’s not physically strenuous.
On day 3, you must be able to swim to participate in the white-water rafting, but it is beginner friendly.
The hike on day 5 is mostly flat or downhill as we take a gondola to the starting point.
The canyon swing on day 6 has a weight limit of 120kgs and you must be in good health to participate, but it is not physically strenuous.
You must be able to carry your own luggage on public transport.
You'll need to able to swim if you're taking part in the white water rafting experience on day 3. Don't worry though. If you can't swim, you can still explore the alpine town of Haiming while you wait, and then join the visit to Innsbruck afterwards.
Your Trip Manager will endeavour to cater for specific dietary requirements where possible. Vegetarianism, lactose intolerance, and gluten intolerance will be catered for in most instances. There are, however, some meals and activities that are fixed in advance and therefore cannot be modified to suit dietary requirements. Please use My Contiki to notify us of any dietary requirements at the time of booking. For those suffering from particular food allergies, your Trip Manager will endeavour to disclose to their fullest knowledge the main ingredients in the dishes being consumed. It is, however, your personal responsibility to ensure that you do not ingest any foods to which you are allergic.
We don’t provide towels on this trip. So, please remember to pack your own towel!
The alps are an incredible mountain range stretching across 8 Alpine countries: Monaco, France, Switzerland, Italy, Liechtenstein, Germany, Austria, and Slovenia. Perfect for skiing, biking or hiking!

Not at all! You’ll certainly have the option to explore a destination’s nightlife (and the Trip Manager may point you to their fave bars) but there’s absolutely no pressure to join in. In most groups, there’ll be a good mix of people who like to party and people who like to take it easy. Your Trip Manager will have this in mind, and they can suggest lots of night time activities that don’t involve drinking.
Choose from well over 200 trips around the world. You’ll find Contiki trips in Europe, Asia, Africa, North America, Latin America, New Zealand and Australia. Popular destinations include the Greek Islands, Italy, Thailand, Japan and South Africa. Browse all destinations here.

Each and every Contiki trip includes:
The number of included meals and activities varies from trip to trip. For example, you’ll find that on many of our city trips, fewer meals are included so you have the freedom to explore different eateries for yourself.

Flights to/from your start/end destination are not included with the cost of your trip. You can add flights to your booking though – just give us a call on 1 (866) 224 0267 to make it happen.
Our trips also include optional Free Time Add-Ons – experiences designed to help you get the most out of your Contiki trip. On Day One of your trip, you’ll get to select from a menu of Free Time Add-Ons, and then you can pay for them during the trip.
Breakfast is included on the vast majority of our trips, but not all food is. In most cases, the itinerary has been designed to give you the freedom to explore and choose where/what to eat for yourself (with tips from your Trip Manager/local guides).
