1. Many Eastern European countries still have their own currency so this is something to watch out for when traveling that direction. Staying in Portugal I found that those running Portuguese bed and breakfasts or hotels were quite willing to accept sterling as well.

   It’s easier to tan in Europe, however this doesn’t mean you can ignore sunscreen and basic rules about being sensible in the sun. In places like the beaches on the Algarve, it is extremely easy to get burnt in the summer even with high factor sunscreen on.
