What does this trip registry provide?

The trip registry is a service that allows travelers to register their Contiki trip online. You receive a free website, a guest message board, and gift announcement cards! Through the registry, your friends and family help fund your trip. There are no set up fees to use the registry.

Why should I use this trip registry?

The trip registry allows you to register your trip and inform your personal network. Using a registry is much more personal than outright asking for cash! You can register, get the word out early, and receive money to help with the initial costs of the trip. Any trip is better when someone else is covering the funding!

Is the trip registry or “My Trip” website hard to set up?

Your trip registry is easy to set up and only takes about 15 minutes. Once you enter your specific Contiki trip information you can personalize your registry website, blog, photo album and announcement emails. Announcement and gift cards can be downloaded at any time.

May I sign up for the trip registry without booking a trip?

A valid booking number is required to create a trip registry. This number will be provided to you when you place a booking and put down a $200 deposit. The booking number is needed to apply the registry money to your booking.

How much does it cost to use the trip registry and “My Trip” website?

There are no set up fees. All gift transactions are subject to a 7% service fee that pays for the travelers account management, trip web page, order processing, and gift announcements. During the sign up process the traveler chooses whether the 7% service fee will be added to or deducted from each gift amount. If a buyer uses a credit card to make a purchase, a standard 3% credit card fee will apply (the fee goes directly to Electronic Merchant Systems and is for secure credit card processing). With the registry, gifters avoid typical registry costs such as shipping and gift-wrap charges and the travelers avoid the of returning any unwanted gifts!

How do I notify friends and family about this trip registry?

We provide downloadable announcements at no charge. To invite your friends and family to your trip registry click the link “Let Everyone Know.” We will send an email announcing your trip registry to your selected email list. Spread the word and suggest the registry to your friends and family when they ask about a gift for you.

If I live in the US where does my gift money go?

Honeymoon Wishes places the money in a Merrill Lynch holding account. The money is transferred to Contiki 50 days prior to your departure date and applied to your booking. Contiki requires full payment 45 days prior to departure for land only bookings. Any money added to your registry within 50 days of your departure will be released to you by check, PayPal transfer, or ban (ACH) transfer. Please note ACH can take 24 – 48 hours to show in your account after the transfer is processed. PayPal may charge a fee; please see PayPal for details according to your account type. Checks will be sent via regular USP mail service.

If I live in Canada or I am traveling with a Canadian tour operator where does my gift money go?

You are able to request your gift money anytime, as many times as you’d like. Your gift monies are transferred into your PayPal account. Please contact PayPal for details on setting up an account for transfer of funds. Note that there may be fluctuations in exchange rates between the time the gift is made and when you receive your monies. Currency conversion fees may be applied. All transactions, prices and payments are in US dollars.

How am I notified of a purchase from my trip registry?

You receive an email notice to view the “Gift Announcement” from your gift giver. Your friends and family can choose to print the customized gift announcement with a personal message and photo. You can also log on to your account at anytime and go to “View Gifts” to view gift details. Guests have the option to post their gift announcement on your registry under the “Well Wishes” section.

When will my trip registry be active? When will my trip registry close?

You can begin receiving gifts the first day you set up your trip registry. Your registry will remain active 90 days after your trip. Money received after your departure date will be released to you.

What happens if my trip is cancelled or postponed?

See Contiki policies regarding trip changes &/or cancellations. If gift monies have been transferred to Contiki, Contiki will issue a refund according to their normal policy. If gift monies have not been transferred to Contiki, Honeymoon Wishes will refund the giver’s credit card. Purchasing the maximum trip cancellation insurance at the time of booking is strongly suggested.
