Aswan

The temple of Ramses II at Abu Simbel is more than 3,000 years old and is one of Egypt’s most magnificent monuments. Modern technology was used to move it in the 1960’s to a higher site, out of the way of the waters of the Lake Nasser dam. Luxor

Get a an indepth view of how everyday life is for the rural Egyptian by visiting a local Egyptian Village near Luxor. Your motor boat takes you to the west bank of the Nile for an experience in Egyptian culture. Visit a village house and participate in the widespread tradition of tea drinking before strolling through the village then finally return across the Nile by motor boat.

March 19: Depart USA
March 20: Arrive Cairo
Welcome to Egypt. Our representative will meet you to ensure a smooth path through Immigration and Customs. Time to explore at leisure before meeting your tour guide and fellow travelers this evening.
March 21: Cairo to Aswan
First to the Egyptian Museum where our guide will take us back to ancient Egypt and the time of the Pharaohs. From here to Giza for a guided tour of the Great Pyramids and Sphinx. In the evening, we board our overnight train for Aswan. (B,D)
March 22: Nile Cruise – Aswan
Arriving in Aswan mid-morning we view the unfinished obelisk and visit the High Dam. We sail on a felucca to the Botanical Gardens before joining our cruise ship for a sumptuous lunch. (B,L,D)
March 23: Nile Cruise- Aswan to Edfu
This morning, why not join our fantastic excursion to Abu Simbel – the most complete example of ancient Egyptian architecture? Built by Pharaoh Ramses II more than 3,000 years ago, the temples were moved over a period of years to their new site safely above the waters of Lake Nasser. After lunch, we cruise to Kom Ombo to view this unique temple, shared by two Gods. We reach Edfu, where we spend the night on-board. (B,L,D)
March 24: Nile Cruise- Edfu to Luxor
Today starts with a visit to Egypt’s best preserved temple dedicated to Horus, the Falcon God. Casting off, we spend the afternoon on-board watching Upper Egypt slip by. We arrive in Luxor (the ancient city of Thebes) in time to view the temple of Luxor. (B,L,D)
March 25: Luxor to Cairo
A visit to the Valley of the Kings – the place where King Tutankhamun was buried, before we make our way to the magnificent temple of Karnak. In the afternoon see the Colossos of Memnon and why not join us for a visit to a traditional Egyptian village? Later, we board our overnight train to Cairo. (B,D)
March 26: Cairo
First to Sakkara to see the oldest pyramid in the world – the Step Pyramid. We continue on to the Citadel, Alabaster Mosque, Sultan Husan Mosque and time to shop in the bazaar. A chance to join us for a Light and Sound show at the Pyramids on our final evening together. (B,D)
March 27: Depart Cairo
Time to swap addresses and say farewell to your new-found friends as your tour ends after breakfast (B)
