Yucatan is a Western State of Mexico and is famous for its sandy beaches, brilliant azure blue waters and it’s wealth of Mayan ruins and history. ‘Yucatan’ can also be used to refer to the whole Yucatan Peninsula of Western Mexico.

One of the richest states in Mexico, Yucatan maintains its own unique and distinct culture from the rest of the country with their own styles of food and cooking, culture and way of living.

The region has a strong Mayan heritage and although the official and most widely spoken language is Spanish, there are still many locals who speak a little (if not more) Mayan.

The capital is Merida is a diverse and culturally rich city while Chichen Itza is perhaps the most famous archaeological site in the country while Cancun on the coast is undoubtedly the holiday and party capital of the country. These though are just a few of the highlights Yucatan has to offer.
