The Thousand Islands is a geographical spectacle thousands of years in the making. When the St. Lawrence River changed course 10,000 years ago, it changed an Ice Age debris plain into a fantastic river landscape dotted with literally thousands of small islands. Rich industrialists would build beautiful homes on these picturesque islands over 100 years ago. I went alone last summer (06). I met some wonderful people…I liked it so much, that I am going on the London + Paris trip next week (alone again).
A tip for people looking for a decent coffee shop.. if you don't already know about it, you will because most Contiki travellers find out about it - its The Grasshopper. Ask a local and they should be able to tell you where to find it.
