More Tour and Travel Advice for the USA and Canada
What to pack for travel to other parts of the world

The following is a suggested packing list for a USA and/or Canada tour.
People are individuals though and often have personal preferences and opinions as to what to bring. The following then is not a definitive list, but should give you a good guide as to what you should pack for enjoying your tour in North America.

- 1 Rainproof jacket
- 2 or 3 shorts/skirts

- Socks (lots)
- Underwear (lots)
- 2 or 3 Casual shirts
- Slacks
- 1 or 2 Collared shirts

- Dress/going out clothes (for evenings out, not too formal)

Label your suitcase inside and out with your name and your home address and perhaps attach a sticker, ribbon, patch or other unique identifier to your luggage to make it easier to spot.
Carry a copy of your passport, visas, travel and other important documents as well as your travellers cheque numbers (if you use them) with you in your luggage. You should also leave a copy of all this information at home with someone trusted and contactable while you are away.
Don’t pack your travel documents and passport in your luggage, rather take it with you in your carry luggage.
Remember to bring more than enough of any medication you might need along with you and carry prescriptions for any medications that you carry with you.

Nickee, they only need to be in clear containers (less than 100ml) if you are carrying them on the plane. so if you check in your toiletries you will be fine.
This includes any liquid you take on the plane i think, they took all the make-up that my SIL bought duty free when she was leaving the US last year.

Are there any specifications on the toiletry bag??
I’ve been told numerous things – it has to be clear, it can’t be this big, it can’t over a certain amount of liquid, etc.
Can anyone clarify? Cheers!

I went to Italy and France a few years ago for 24 days and what I found was helpful was rather than literally pack an outfit for everyday, I packed a handful of durable handy clothes (eg, three tops, a couple of tees, oen pair of light weight denim jeans, one pair of light weight pants, two skirts and a pair of cargos / capris) and took my own washing powder and liquid to wash my own clothes (usually in the hotel bathr tub lol) after I had worn them. I didn’t use a public laundry once, my suitcase remained fairly light weight and I always had clean clothes to wear. The only downside with taking jeans for example is that they take a very long time to dry completely. If you were really game, you could risk not washing them for the whole trip (but I don’t know if I would do that again), or if you are on a tour and arrive in a place where you are staying more than one night, you can wash them at the start and you can be sure they will be dry by the time you leave for the next place. Take as little as possible, just your favourite tees, one good hoodie (because over the head jumpers or hoodies are much harder to take on and off if you get hot), and lots and lots and LOTS of underwear and socks lol. That way, your suitcase stays nice and light, leaving room for anything you buy and is still under the airline weight restrictions.
