The Paris Opera House is one of the most famous buildings in the city, if only by name.

Almost everyone has heard of the ‘Phantom of the Opera’ in either it’s musical, book or movie form and while the story is a work of fiction, there have been many strange occurrences in the Paris Opera that many attribute to the Phantom.

Only very small on the inside, the building itself is very beautiful while the interior dome was painted by Mark Chagall.

Used more for ballet and private functions nowadays, you can visit the interior

Designed by the same architect that designed the Grand Casino in Monaco, the Paris Opera House is a beautiful, ornate and fame-worthy feature of Paris.

  1. The Paris Opera house isn’t used for Operas anymore, they sometimes have ballet and other performances there, there is a big new opera house at Bastille – regardless, visiting the Opera House will set you back about 7€ – a little bit less if you have a student card.

  2. What is the cost of touring the opera house and seeing a show?
