Contiki Tours that travel to Norway >

Norway has easily one of the highest standards of living anywhere in the world and the ‘land of the Vikings’ stretches the length of western Scandinavia sharing borders with Sweden, Finland and Russia. The whole west coast is filled with fjords, inlets and scenery of spectacular beauty, much of the country is natural, mountainous wilderness while Norway is also home to Hammerfest, the northern most city in the world and Nordkapp, the northern most tip of Europe.

Manners and Customs

  • Norway has a number of very tight controls on the sale of alcohol
  • Smoking is banned inside public places
  • ‘Please’ does not really translate into Norwegian
  • Norwegians are very proud of and love their winter sports

  1. The word “please” can be translated into “vær så snill”, but the Norwegians are not known to be the most polite people.
On behalf of all Norwegians I’m sorry that some tourists see us are unfriendly and polite, we are only shy!! Just talk to us after a few drinks :)
