People travel from all over the world to experience the true taste of Italy and from your first slice of pizza, sip of wine or fork full of pasta it’s easy to see why….
Food
One of the big draw cards of Italy is the food. Italian food is very simple, good chefs use very few ingredients so as not to loose and confuse the flavours.
Eating is an integral and important part of any day in Bella Italia and the variety, styles and tastes ate almost boundless. Italian restaurants can be found in almost any city or town in the world as can the local variations (New York Style pizza, for example) but only in Italy can you sit down on the edge of a campo or piazza, relax with a glass of vino (wine) and enjoy the tastes of true, authentic Italian cuisine. But Pizza is just the beginning….
- Eating a pizza in Italy – an absolute must for any traveler. This world-famous icon of Italian cooking originated in Naples. Today Rome claims to make better pizza than anyone else and often you will find it sold not by the slice, but by weight in many of the city’s pizzerias.
- Spaghetti bolognaise (Italian: ragu) is just but one combination of varieties of pasta styles and sauces you will find. Lasagna, penne, gnocchi, ravioli……risotto is a specialty of Venice.
- Gelato seems to have originated in Tuscany, almost every Italian town and city will claim to produce the best gelato (Italian style ice cream). Rome has tubs and tubs of the stuff – Rome, gelato, trevi fountain – pure magic. Florence, the capital of Tuscany, has almost undoubtedly some of the best, bust also some of the most expensive. The myriad of different styles, flavors and tastes that can be found across the country is more than enough for even the biggest sweet tooth.
- Panini sandwiches filled with fresh, flavorsome hams, salamis, meats, cheeses, fresh, ripe tomatoes amongst a smorgasbord of others.
Drink
- Wine (Italian: Vino) is as important, if not more important to the Italians than beer is to the Germans The varieties and blends are generally named after the regions where they are produced with Chianti perhaps being the most famous.
- The Italians also take their coffee very seriously. Coffee is usually taken as an espresso, (a short shot) of coffee but, again, like everything else in Italy, the variety is amazing and with a flavor absolutely to die for.

Recent Tips
If you have a high-def video camera, be sure to take it on a hike with you to the bottom of the canyon. HD is the only way to bring out the gorgeous contrast of blue sky and red rock that you'll want to show everyone at home.
For ladies I would definitely recommend finding some slightly nicer than normal black flats... I bought some in Prague for super cheap and still wear them all the time!
My advice would be to do as many excursions as you can. They are a great way to get to know your group, and they are always good fun.
