australia spending money

How much spending money to budget for is a difficult question to answer as everyone has their own style and rate of travel spending. Some will go out and shop till they drop spending perhaps 100’s of dollars every day, other will party spending more in bars while again others will spend more money on museum entries and souvenirs, while others yet again will get though on the bare essentials.

Unlike many holiday and vacation operators Contiki includes many extras, sightseeing excursions, meals and highlights as part of the tour, however we do not fill every hour of every day and there is ample free time to enjoy the cities and countries you visit at your leisure.

As a rough guide we suggest budgeting approximately A$80 a day, this will obviously vary depending individual tastes and habits

In order to budget more accurately you should take into account the optional excursions that you may wish to participate in during your tour.

If possible, it’s always better to over estimate how much you may spend and budget for that as if you come across an experience or something you really want to do or have you will have room in your budget, and if you don’t spend the money all the better at the end of the tour.

  7. “Bare minimum for the cruise AU$200 per day. All expenses will be catered for on the cruise except drinks and on shore tours…but allow a further AU $100 for tips.”

  8. Bare minimum for the cruise AU$200 per day. All expenses will be catered for on the cruise except drinks and on shore tours…but allow a further AU $100 for tips. As a rule we dont tip down here, but the cruise lines dont use Australian staff to make the beds etc. So the deal is..you ONLY tip the HEAD cabin GUYAND THE DRINK WAITER AT YOUR DINNER TABLE…no one else. Half up front and half at the end if they do a good job.

The $200 per day will get you at least $50 per day on souveneers and allow $150 per day for drinks [4 cocktails can eat up your money.] But that is bare minimum.

As for the 4 days in Sydney, it really depends on your hotel, how many stars, how far from the city it is etc etc. Try and get a deal through your travel agent when you book the cruise…AND DO NOT DRINK KAVA when you get to the Islands…you will be on the loo for the rest of the cruise!! реактивы

  9. I think no matter how much you take it’ll feel like it’s not enough. They say Australia is one of the more less expensive countries to tour in, that’s nice lol. With all the places that take credit cards now, I would grab my VISA or Maser Card and say $500 in traveler’s checks and maybe a couple hundred in cash and get on board. If the trip is all inclusive then that much the better. There is always ATMs if need be. The biggest thing is to take what you can afford to spend, or as much as you feel comfortable carrying with you, and ENJOY! yourself. Good Luck! and Have a Great Time! Oh yeah check out the link below there was a “How was your trip?” kind of section that had a lot of info, the kind you can only get from people who have been there, it should be helpful. адвокат киев модные луки

  10. I live in Aus and it’s quite expensive for Food. If you go to local pubs it’s much cheaper than a restaurant. Most restaurants are AU$25-35 for a main meal. That’s for an average restaurant. Sydney and Melbourne might be more expensive as well.. I’m going on a contiki tour in Sept to Europe. I will be saving for the Optionals then i will also have $120 per day to spend. If i come home with heaps of $ i will just have to book another tour :)

  12. I traveled on Semester at Sea, so I was in each country we visited for 5 days at a time. Once I got to a country, I took out the equivalent of 100USD in the local currency from an ATM (yes, there is a fee to do this, but it shouldn’t be more than $5 or so. Check with your bank). This money was purely for shopping (most restaurants accept credit cards) and this amount was pretty much perfect in every Asian country we visited (I think I spent about 300USD in Spain, Europe is considerably more expensive). That said, all of our additional, optional trips were already paid for (so definitely budget that in with Contiki). **If you choose to use a credit card in Asia, ask to see the merchant’s copy of the receipt and mark out all but the last four numbers of your credit card. Don’t worry if they argue with you, they WILL still be able to process your transaction, and they won’t be able to steal your card number (which happened to many of my friends).
