Greece is a country of islands, blue skies and even bluer water, white-washed houses and domed churches, picture postcard scenery, beaches, food and pure relaxation. During the summer the Greek Islands come alive with pleasure-seekers and holiday makers to create a relaxed atmosphere of sun-loving fun.

Athens, the capital and home of the Acropolis, is by far the largest city, but during the summer the Greeks evacuate the big city in preference for the fun, adventure, chaos and beauty of the Greek Islands and the Peloponnese. From the pure 24 hour, no rules, party atmosphere of Ios to the soaring cliffs, romance and world-famous (and, often, literally applauded) sunsets of Santorini to Mykonos – the island that has it all, the Greek Islands are simply indescribable. Further north in the Ionian Sea you will also find the holiday playground of Corfu, yet another playground in the sun.

It’s hard not to be taken in by the laid back, super relaxed lifestyle of the Greeks live. If something doesn’t happen today, then it’ll happen tomorrow, if not then, maybe the next day, or maybe we’ll just go to the beach instead. Laid back, casual, everything in Greece operates in Greek, or ‘ish’ time, nothing really seems to matter. A great escape on it’s own, a relaxing finish to, or refreshing interlude to many tours, if ever there was a perfect summer holiday destination in Europe, this is about as close as you would ever come. Amid all the chaos and apparent disorganization everything seems to get done…..eventually, 13 million Greeks can’t be wrong.
