french riviera view

The French Riviera, or Cote d’Azur, region of France stretches from the Italian border at Menton, west across the southern coast of France to the port city of Marseilles. It was formerly part of the Kingdom of Sardinia (now Italy) and is now synonymous with glitz, glamour, and the beautiful Mediterranean Sea. Home also to the towns of Nice, Cannes, Antibes and the ultra-glamorous Principality of Monaco, home of the Grimaldis. The region gained this reputation in the 18th and 19th centuries when it became a favorite holiday spot for British aristocrats and has grown since then to become one of the great places in Europe to chill out, relax and enjoy a little beach culture.

Perfume

The Riviera is also the home of the French Perfume industry with the town of Grasse in the hills behind Cannes being widely revered as the perfume capital of the world. Most tours that visit the French Riviera will visit the famous Fragonard Perfumery in either Grasse or Eze. While this Riviera icon also has outlets in Paris and can be found in stores around the world.
