pork knuckle and beer, munich

Munich is the capital of Bavaria and the Bavarians generally have their own style thats sets them apart from the rest of Germany. As a general rule though, the Bavarians like things big. Huge beers are just the beginning as the serves of foods like schnitzels, potato salads, wurst (sausage) and sauerkraut are usually more than one person can eat. The local favorites and specialties however are the roasted pork knuckles, huge pretzels, white sausage (German: weisswurst)- usually consumed before 11am by the locals) and cheeses.

Although you cannot go past beer (in its various incarnations) apple juices and sodas are also popular as are schnaps after a meal.
