The Eiffel Tower (French: La Tour Eiffel) was constructed for a Worlds Fair hosted by Paris and named after its architect and designer Gustaf Eiffel, it perhaps one of the most famous and awe-inspiring icons in the world. At a little over 320 meters high (1062 feet) it was the tallest man-made structure in the world when it was completed in 1889 (as remained so until the Chrysler and then later Empire State Buildings were built in New York) – Over 200 million people have visited the Tower since.

Many people take to opportunity to take the elevators to the top of the tower for unforgettable views of the ‘City of Light’. Traveling with Contiki you can do this as a group and save yourself time otherwise spent waiting in the often hours long lines.

‘La Tour’ is one of the most instantly recognisable structures not only in the romantic city of Paris, but anywhere in the world.

  1. Is entrance to the Eiffel Tower (via elevator) included in the European Highlights tour?
