Bavaria

Bavaria (German: Bayern) is the largest and southern-most administrative region of Germany famous for its beautiful countryside, mountains, alps, laid-back lederhosen wearing residents and, maybe most of all its beer. Munich, the capital of Bavaria and Germany’s third largest city is home to the yearly Oktoberfest (aka Beerfest).

The Bavarians are reasonably culturally independent of their fellow countrymen and women speaking an unusual dialect of German and noticeable differences in their lifestyle and attitudes. Generally, the Bavarians have more in common with the people of the Tyrol in Austria though neither will admit it as they are both fiercely independent.

  1. Bavaria is my favourite part of Germany. The Bavarians see themselves as independent from the rest of Germany. Their blue and white state flag also forms part of the logo of BMW!
