The soaring mountains, crystal clear lakes, pure streams, and laid back lifestyle in the towns and villages. This casual attitude of the Tyrol region in the west contrasts with the cosmopolitan bustle and majestic grandeur of the eastern capital of Vienna.
Although the official language is German, the Austrians are fiercely independent and proud to be Austrian. The locals are friendly, outgoing and welcoming and speak a wide variety of dialects across the country. Most are as likely to understand English as they are the dialects of their fellow countrymen.

If I was going to live somewhere in Europe it would have to be Austria. So fresh, clean and safe plus the scenery is sensational…. great people, food and lifestyle.

Recent Tips
Be wary of gladiators outside the colosseum. They don't take photos for free and can be quite agressive about their payment. Also don't be fooled into taking an unlicensed guided tour of the Colosseum either....
Cafe lattes, bruchetta, chianti, gnochi, limoncella, baci chocolates, gelati, pizza, it's impossible to not try everything in Italy.
Itter was one of the nicest town's I've ever been in, absolutely gorgeous. It's a sleepy town, but on Contiki you bring your own nightlife. This was one stop I wont forget.
