The Museum Island around the Lustgarten is the cultural heart of Berlin and many of the buildings around this area were designed by German Neo-Classical Architectural superstar Karl Friedrich Schinkel.

The Museum Island is home to the Pergamon Museum,the Altes (Old) Museum, the Alte Nationalgalerie and the Bode-Museum. Father south is the Jewish History Museum.

The city is hoe to the annual Berlin Film festival in winter while the Berlin Opera house just West of the city centre is also well know thorugh out the world.
