Fraser Island is the largest sand island in the world. It is very unique and you will definitely want to do a tour of the island when you stay there.

Half Day Tour

The first nights party at the Dingo Bar is usually rather large so if you are a party animal, you might want to opt for the half day tour that still goes to the key areas of the island like Lake McKenzie and to the Shipwreck…but allows for a sleep in that morning!

Full Day Tour

If you want to see as much of the island as possible and don’t mind an early start, then the full day tour is fantastic. The ranger guides are experts on the island and will give you all the cool facts you want to know. You will get to visit all the sites that make this island famous.

Hire your own 4 Wheel Drive

If you want to hire your own 4WD to go exploring, you can but it is good to know what costs you are up for before you start. It can be quite expensive, especially if you run into trouble on the island in regards to damage to the 4WD – so do your homework.

You also have to navigate yourselves around the island and will not have the expertise of the rangers. This is why Contiki recommends the Guided tours – so you can sit back, relax and enjoy your time on the island.
